The Human Machine Interface: Critical for Product Development Success

In almost every technology used by human beings, the human machine interface, or HMI, is critical to product performance. Whether it’s an interplanetary spacecraft or a smart phone, mission success and end user satisfaction is highly dependent on the ability of people to access machine functionality easily. For many projects, the HMI can be the pacing item, absorbing a large proportion of developer time and project costs. Development of a great HMI is an art, a science and an engineering challenge, one that requires creativity, careful planning and the right tools.

On this episode of The Engineering Roundtable, we discuss the importance, challenges and future of HMI development with an expert panelist from TomTom and Unity.

Panelists:

Rok Erjavec, Vice President of Engineering, TomTom

Henning Linn, Director Solutions Engineering, Unity

Romano McBride, Senior Technical Product Manager, Unity

Paul Schouten, Design Team Lead, TomTom
