Composite wing material suggestions? View All
Hi
I am a final year student studying aviation engineering. For my dissertation I am optimising a SkyRanger 582's materials. I wish to choose a hard shell skin (e.g. fibre glass), with probably an aluminium alloy (2024) structure. However for the wings, I am considering composite components. Any suggestions on materials/designs?
Thank you very much for your help
Dan

If you want to go for ultimate performance then look at a carbon fibre wing. Since you are going to use an aluminum and fibre glass fuselage then considering keeping that basic format for the wings. If done properly you may be able to eliminated the support struts.
