Why doesn't NASA Build New Space Shuttles? View All
I was curious if anybody knew why NASA is not building a new space shuttle. With all of the recent disasters it's had due to an aging fleet, you would think they would build new shuttles with newer and more advanced technology

The lifespan of the shuttle is completed. The will build different platforms for reusable spaceflight in the future. Perhaps some of the ideas from the X-prize will modify their plans.

I think we need a major technological advancement to really further space travel and investment. We are limited to a tiny area of explorable space due to our technology. A major advancement in fuel, propulsion, etc. will kick start some more exciting investment.
